I have 25 years of experience in the Information/Operations
Technology industry most recently specifically focused on Digital
Transformation, IoT (Internet of Things), Big Data, Artificial Intelligence,
Cloud Solutions, Scalable platform architectures, and Application
Modernisation Strategy, including overseeing the development and
implementation of these. I have provided solutions and consulting services
for clients across a wide range of industries including Energy and Utilities,
Transit, Retail and Advertising. I am comfortable engaging at executive
level, shaping solutions and strategy, taking emerging technology concepts
and enabling them through products / services whilst aligning business and
technology needs. |
Experience Lead
Solutions Architect, Ness Digital Engineering 2008– to date Undertook many roles from solutioning, pre-sales,
consulting and project delivery. I have also been instrumental in key
organisation initiatives around introducing Digital Transformation practice,
IOT and Automotive Domain practices. ·
2018-19: Solution
Architect for a Global Out-Of-Home Advertising Planning Solution based on the
Azure Cloud. The multi-country solution Azure Cloud Native solution is built
on a modular micro-services architecture that has transformed the planning
and programmatic trading of Out-of-Home Advertising
media through nor-real time inventory and availability data integration and
multi-dimensional audience targeting. ·
2019: Solution redesign of a complex
Advertising Reach calculation engine which resulted in Order of Magnitude performance improvement and significant reduction in
the deployment footprint of the service. The solution is based on a Syclla NoSQL DB
cluster, Dask parallel
processing framework and used vectorised computations (SIMD) to process
billion+ contact records in a matter of seconds to
determine the Audience reach of the campaign ·
2018: Predictive maintenance product
concept for RUL prediction of gas turbine shaft assembly using Apache Spark ·
2018: Jointly architected and
developed the foundation architecture for an Europe wide real time
telematics data processing platform. The Azure based data platform integrated
with tens of data providers, harmonises and distributes data to downstream
applications for improving the efficiency of supply chains management and traffic planning tools. ·
2018: Re-platforming of a diamond
allocation and planning solution. The solution involved a CPLEX-based
optimisation engine using a MIP solver to allocate diamond assortments to
buying events called Sights based on past buying behaviour,
production plans and demand profiles. ·
2017: Solution Architecture for
Telematics Data Platform. The project involved evaluating existing technology
platform which was struggling to meets the scalability demands of the
business, proposed and prototyped a scalable
architecture based on Kafka, Scala, Spark MLLib, Cassandra, ReactJS.
The solution handles about 30000 events per second but can scale as needed. ·
2017: Technical architecture for
MS.net based KYC platform for the diamond developed to demonstrate to supply chain partners, consumers and other
interested stakeholders that the exploration, extraction, sorting, cutting
& polishing of diamonds, and the manufacture and sale of diamond
jewellery is undertaken in a professional, ethically and environmentally friendly and accountable way. ·
2017: Block chain concept demonstrator
based on Hyper-Ledger Fabric for Capital Bonds marketplace allowing Issuers
to publish Vanilla bonds, investors to purchase binds, and provides auditors
with complete market traceability for compliance
monitoring. ·
2016: Design and implementation of an
Azure IOT based real time F1 race analytics lap times predictor for Manor
Racing that can ingest, aggregate and visualise massive data streams
from an F1 car and also make predictions about
lap-time performance. Use cases involved descriptive analytics (historical
and current race position trending and predictive analytics (predicting lap
times and compound selection-based Tyre degradation model) ·
2016: Major UK Automotive Web Platform
Technology Strategy: Technical Architect for
initiative to define the technology roadmap that will help deliver the
Connected Consumer and Blended Retail Vision through enhanced technology
capabilities. The project involved: review of business goals and vision, identification of business capabilities and mapping
to current technology capability, gap analysis of as-is versus future-state,
and development of 3-year technology roadmap with rationalisation /new
capability development initiatives. ·
2014-15: Intelligent Transport
Architecture: solution architecture for cloud deployed rail booking
engine that provides ticket and train information to client applications
including ability to purchase ticket. The rail booking solution is designed for
99.93% high availability, low latency requirements
and interfaces with more than 20 external systems, including journey
planning, fares, schedules, real time network updates, fulfilment, loyalty
and payment channels. My responsibilities also included complete capacity planning and availability modelling. Used graph
processing library for fare calculation and route planning. Technical Architect, Ness Technologies 2005 - 2008 ·
2004-2008: Technical Architecture for
QVC Re-platforming project): Technical Architecture for J2EE rewrite and
consolidation of various systems relating to the delivery of the Digital
Strategy vision i.e. Web Content Management, Web-shop, Enterprise Show Planning, Waving and Picking (Distribution) system.
Technical Design for Waving and Picking system. Developed Optimization module
for containerisation and automated pack-slip printing solution. Technical Architect, Krohm Solutions 2002 - 2004 ·
2002-2004: Utility of the Future
Technology programme for a Power and Energy Company (Strategy and
Implementation). I was the Integration Architect in team that developed the
technology strategy for a massive technology rationalisation and road-mapping
program to audit, map and align the technology
capability to the Future Business strategy. Participated in the Technology
Mapping, Audit, Product to Technology alignment, Gap analysis, solution
design and implementation of middleware components relating to Outage Management, Automated Meter Reading and GIS based on
the Multi-Speak Utility Integration Standard. ·
2003-2004: Technical Architecture for
.net based underground utility network protection solution based on ESRI
maps. This solution saved utilities several
millions of $ by filtering out unnecessary field trips based on a custom
geocoding algorithm and vectoring of utility network maps. Consultant, Biond Mapping Solutions 2000 – 2001 ·
Developed one the first vector based
online maps using Flash as the frontend
technologies. Developed automated ingestion and data shaping solution to
process GIS data from satellite and field data collection. Also developed an
Outdoor Advertising solution, mapping Billboards on the road of Bombay city
with availability information along with visibility/traffic based pricing model. Senior Consultant, Patni Systems (Client: Hitachi Software) 1997 – 1999 · Technical lead for Java
based rewrite of Hitachi systems Group max workflow solution. This solution
was deployed to 27 major corporations in Japan. Senior Systems Engineer, Fisher Rosemount Systems 1995 – 1997 ·
Developer for terminal automation
system and refinery distributed control systems provider; developer terminal
automation DAC module and process control logic for polystyrene plant on the
Fisher Provox DCS. Instrumentation and Process Controls Engineer, UHDE 1994 – 1997 · Instrumentation and
control systems engineer for a German Petrochemicals and Refinery design
firm. Developed Auto-lisp/C based Equipment Design module |
